How to Freeze Raw Kale

Frozen kale is perfect for smoothies, sauces, and soups for a boost of color, flavor, and nutrition—and it’s incredibly easy to freeze

Start by washing kale in the sink to remove any debris and dirt.

Fill a pot with water and turn the burner on high to boil. This is a perfect time to prep your ice bath with a bowl, cold water, and ice.

Strip the leaves from the kale stalk, then chop the kale leaves to your desired size. Immediately drop the kale to the boiling water working in sections. Once the kale has been cooked for 2 minutes, transfer it to an ice bath.

Once your kale has cooled, squeeze out as much water from the kale as possible and pack it into an ice cube tray.

Put your tray of kale into the freezer for a few hours. Once the kale has frozen, remove it from the tray and transfer it to a freezer-safe ziplock bag. Date and return back to freezer.
