Equipment

  • Saucepan
  • Wooden Spoon
  • Measuring spoons and cups
  • Glass jars or containers for storing

Ingredients

  • 1 can 15 ounces tomato sauce
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 garlic clove minced
  • ½ teaspoon dried basil
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon powdered onion
  • ½ teaspoon granulated sugar
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Combine ingredients: Add all ingredients to a small saucepan and stir to combine. Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat, then reduce to low. Let it simmer uncovered for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce has thickened and the flavors have blended together.
  2. Remove from heat: Remove from heat and let cool slightly before spreading over your pizza dough.

Notes

  • Use quality tomato sauce: The better your base, the richer your sauce will taste.
  • Simmer low and slow: This helps the flavors develop and the sauce thicken naturally.
  • Taste as you go: Adjust salt, pepper, or sugar to your liking.
  • Freeze leftovers: Store extra sauce in jars or ice cube trays for easy pizza nights later on.
