When we think of fall we think of the warm scent of cinnamon, apples, and fallen leaves. This simmer pot recipe ties in all of those scents to make your home smell like fall!

When I was busy canning apples last week making my homemade apple sauce, the house smelt divine as I was boiling the apples. This got me in the mood to create a simple recipe for making our home smell even more like fall. I’ve made simmer pots in the past, but there is something about this recipe that brings those childhood fall memories back. Maybe it is the star annis that make me think of our hometown fair, or the bay leaves, and rosemary that emulate the scent of leaves. Whatever it is, this is the best fall simmer pot recipe to make your home smell like fall.

Why You’ll Love This Simmer Pot Recipe

When we think of fall our mind instantly thinks of warm spicey candles. I myself think of candles as well, but there is something homey about creating your own recipe of natural elements to make your home smell like fall and knowing that you aren’t sending harsh chemicals and faux fragrances into the air.

Instead, you are left with a warm fresh scent that lasts for days. Yes, days. I warmed this fall simmer pot recipe for one full day and we woke up the next morning greeted with the same lovely fall scent throughout the house.

How to Make a Fall Simmer Pot

You can be creative with how much of each ingredient you put into your simmer pot. It all depends on what scent you would like to be most dominant. I chose to keep all of my ingredients similar in quantity so they could complement one another. Below are the exact measurements I used.

  1. Half of an orange
  2. Half of a lemon
  3. A full apple
  4. 3 cinnamon sticks
  5. 3 bay leaves
  6. 4 star annis
  7. 9 cloves
  8. 1 rosemary spring
